Introduction

This video quickly shows the whole process from start to finish.

Material and Grind

In this video, we'll cover essential grinder types, the impact of humidity control, and how to select the optimal grind size for the best results.

Choosing the Right Industrial Grinder for Cannabis

Here are the key points to check when buying your grinder:

Capacity:

  • Fit Your Needs: Select a grinder that can handle the volume of cannabis you process regularly.

Grind Consistency:

  • Uniform Grind: Choose a grinder that provides a consistent grind size.
  • Adjustable Settings: Look for options to adjust the grind size as needed.

Efficiency and Speed:

  • Effective Operation: Pick a grinder that works efficiently to match your production speed.
  • Low Maintenance: Opt for one that requires minimal upkeep.

Ease of Cleaning:

  • Simple Maintenance: Choose a grinder that is easy to clean and maintain.

Safety Features:

  • Operator Safety: Ensure the grinder has safety features to protect users.

Moisture Level

With any material check for moisture:

  • Dry input Leads to dusty output
  • Humidity packs can help perk things up

Good to know trick and advice

  • Remove Big Stem :They can dage your cones and your grinder may not like it
Look for stem
  • Be aware of what your grinder can handle, Running too much too fast can gum up the works
  • We like using a mix of fine and coarse particles it can improve your fill weight accuracy and density profile

Cones and Loading

In the following video, we will cover how to fill your cones.

Quality matters choose your cones wisely:

  1. We highly recommend our in-house brand, Treefer.
  2. Treefer Cones
  3. If you choose another brand, some cones may have poor manufacturing tolerances. Request samples and test them in your pods before placing a large order.
  4. We recommend requesting cones in sizes:
    • 109mm
    • 98mm
    • 84mm
    • 70mm
  5. Use your samples to determine the right size for your weight target. Fill and pack each size by hand, then choose the one that holds slightly more than your target weight

Understand the Pods Color

To make things easier, Hummingbird pods come in four different colors, each corresponding to a different cone size:

Treefer Cones
  • Blue = 109mm
  • Red = 98mm
  • Green = 84mm
  • Yellow = 70mm

They are all ISO-alcohol and dishwasher safe.

Loading your cones

Add a cones to each of the 30 positions on either 2 or 4 pods.

Seating Cones

For this next step we are going to need to ensure that all your cones are open and in good shape.

Replace or staighten out any cones that don't make the cut

The key to getting a good volumetric fill and hitting your target weight is to ensure that all of your cones are set at the same height and are pushed out and into shape with the tamper

In the video, notice how he grips the pod and uses his finger to guide the tool as it is inserted.

We recommend practicing this step a few times. As you push down, pay attention to your alignment.

Each cone has slightly different sizing, and not all brands will allow the tool to push down flush with the pod. If you feel resistance, stop pushing.

  1. Tare your Pods
    • Take one of your pods that was previously seated with cones
    • Place it on the scales
    • Tare or Zero out that weight
    • this get us ready to find out the max weight you can load in a single fill

  2. Fill With Materials
    • Take the pods you just used to tare the scale and begin to add material from your mix
    • Firmly tap the pod with your free hand as you add your mix to ensure you fill all available space
    • Tare or Zero out that weight
    • this get us ready to find out the max weight you can load in a single fill

  3. Check your weight
    • You will be loocking for 30x your desired per cones fill weight.
    • Underweight?

Grind a bit finer or go up one cone size

      In Range?

You are good to go! Fill the rest!

      Overweight?

Move on to the fill kit

Hummingbird Fill Kit

Each of the 5 included bases, hold your cones at different height that will Restric the amount of material that can be added during the fill
You will have to work from high to Low until you hit the mark.

Load and Run

In this video, we show you how to load the pods and configure the settings of your Hummingbird.

Opening The Lid

  1. Press the open button on your Hummingbird control panel

Load Your Pods

You must use either matched sets of 2 or matched sets of 4 pods at any given time to maintain balanced loads effectively and always place them across from each other

Adjusting settings

The speed setting is directly tied to your output density.

  • Try setting the speed at 2000 RPM to start
  • Set time at 15 seconds as we find to be perfect for alsmost scenario
  • close the lid and hit start

Ejection and Finishing

In this video, we show you the final step of your compacting process

  2. Tare or zero the weight of the empty cone
  3. weight a few of your filled cones to verify you are in an acceptable weight range

Final Adjustments

Density seems off?

Try adjusting speed increments of 100.

Weight too high?

Restric your fill with the fill kit

Weight too low

Try One size up on the fill kits, go up one cone size, Grind a bit finer or top up with a second fill and run again

Cleanup

Clean the buckets, basin and outer surfaces with a food safe cleaner of your choice. We like using a bottle brush on the pods
