Operation Explained:

Twist Station

  • The tray holding your pre-rolls moves and presents a pre-roll under the Twist Station.
  • he twist head lowers, grabbing the tip of your pre-roll. It then rises back to the top position.
  • The two grippers on the right side close to hold the pre-roll in place,
  • the twist mechanism start rotatating to seal the pre-roll.
  • Once sealed, the twist head opens.

Several actions happen simultaneously:

  • The pre-roll is transferred by the right-side grippers to the Cutting Station.
  • Meanwhile, the Twist Station lowers to grab the next pre-roll.
  • As the twist head rises again, the transfer grippers return to position, repeating the twist process.

Cutting Station

  • At the Cutting Station, the pre-roll is held by the left-side grippers.
  • The cutter closes on the end of the cone, trimming the excess to the preset length
  • If you’ve enabled the option, a punch creates a crown effect on the pre-roll.

Several actions happen simultaneously:

  • Once cutting is complete, the left-side grippers close on the pre-roll under the Cutting Station.
  • The finished pre-roll is sent to the collection pan on the left.

While

  • The right-side grippers move the next pre-roll from the Twist Station to the Cutting Station.

Front Panel of your BoxFinish-Er

In this section, we will examine the different control buttons found on the front panel of the machine, highlighting their functionalities and overall utility. Each button plays a significant role in the operation and safety of the machine.

  1. Start button
    • Function: The Start button is used to initiate the operation of a machine or system. It activates the programmed processes.
    • Utility: Allows the operator to start normal operations of the machine.
  2. Stop button
    • Function: The Stop button interrupts the operation of a machine or system in a controlled manner.
    • Utility: Enables the termination of operations when necessary, such as at the end of a task or for maintenance.
  3. Reset button
    • Function: The Stop button is used to restore the settings or state of a machine after a stop or error.
    • Utility: Prepares the machine to operate again after an interruption, often necessary following an emergency stop or system error.
  4. E-Stop (Emergency Stop) Button
    • Function: The Stop button is designed to immediately and safely stop the operation of a machine in case of an emergency.
    • Utility:
      • Safety: It is crucial for the protection of operators and others nearby. It helps prevent serious accidents by stopping the machine instantly.
      • Accessibility: The E-Stop button is located on the front panel, positioned below the three other buttons (Start, Stop, and Reset). This placement ensures that it is easily identifiable and quickly accessible in emergency situations.
      • Immediate Stop: Unlike the Stop or Reset buttons, which may involve a controlled halt, the E-Stop disengages all machine functions immediately.

After the door of your BoxFinish-er, there is a sensor that automatically stops the machine if the door is opened or opens during operation. You must then press the Reset button to restart it.

It is crucial not to remove or attempt to modify the safety devices provided to you. If this occurs and we notice it, your warranty will no longer be valid.

Stations Adjustments

In the following video, we will cover the adjustments of the stations.

Twist & Cut Height

If we look at our station and the pods, the goal is to lower the gripper, grab the paper at a specific position, and bring it up to the top-right transfer gripper. The rule is to position the gripper slightly above the product level.

To adjust the height, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Pick & Twist page.
  2. Select Step-by-Step mode.
  3. Cone pick position (Z-axis): The green field shows the current pick position. The field next to it allows you to adjust the setting.
  4. Cone at gripper position (Z-axis): The green field shows the current position where you bring the cone up. The adjacent field allows you to adjust this as well.
  5. By pressing Step, you advance to the next step in the process.

Adjusting the Crown

At the top of the cutting station, you can adjust the depth:

  1. Loosen the top of the knob.
  2. Adjust the height.
  3. Lock it back in place to secure the adjustment.

Maintenance and Cleaning

  • Empty the Vacuum system regularly.
  • Unclip all grippers:
    • Remove the O-ring from the gripper.
    • Clean the gripper with alcohol.
    • Replace the O-ring.
    • Ensure the gripper is reinstalled in the correct position.
    • Tighten the grippers enough to hold them in place but not too tightly.
  • Clean the paddles of the twist station (this is very important).
  • Tray cleaning:
    • Remove the tray at the bottom of the machine.
    • You have a few options for cleaning the tray:
      • Wash it.
      • Use an ultrasonic bath.
  • Clean the floor of your BoxFinish-Er.
  • Clean all dirty or sticky parts, especially any part that comes in contact with your product.
